Winter got your skin looking dull and tired? These products will help restore your natural glow!
This is the time of year when temperatures drop and our skin feels the full environmental assaults of winter. Even if you’ve got oily skin, we tend to dry out more during the winter because humidity levels are low and the wind is colder and sharper.
Get a good moisturizer (if you don’t already have one)
Winter is the time when some people switch up their moisturizer to a more heavy-bodied version. You don’t necessarily have to do this if you have oily skin or if you’re prone to breakouts. What you want to remember is that your skin isn’t getting as much moisture from the air, so your skin is going to be somewhat dryer than normal. If you’re oily and you’ve found a moisturizer that is already working for you, you don’t have to switch anything. Just make sure you’re applying it at least once a day and at nighttime. For those who tend to have dry skin, you want to make sure you have a good moisturizer, or even step up to one for extra dry skin because the dry air could cause chapping and blistering.
I’m a huge fan of this Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. It is on the higher end price wise, but it’s a great product that will help reduce the signs of anti-aging and wrinkles. This Peter Thomas Roth Blue Marine Algae Instant Hydrating Mask is amazing also; it drenches your skin in a huge boost nutrient-rich gel.
Be sure to keep using an SPF
Even though it’s cooler outside, the sun still shines on. That’s why you should continue to use an SPF regularly. You can purchase a product that has an SPF in it, or get just a straight-out formula. This Avene Cream 50+ SPF is one of my favorites and it goes well under your foundation and pairs well with moisturizer.
Add a facial oil or serum to your routine.
Depending on your skin type, a skin oil could really help your routine this winter (and year round). My pick is The Ordinary Hydrators & Oils 100% Cold-Pressed Virgin Marula Oil. This will give your thirsty skin the drench of moisture it needs.
Use Lip Balms
Lips still need to be protected as well. Since the skin on your lips is thinner, they’re most likely going to show the negative effects of the colder weather first. If you’re noticing peeling, cracking or even bleeding, then you need a good lip balm asap. I love this Adore Cherry Lip Balm, because cherry is one of my favorite flavors. Adore also has other lip balms in various flavors.
