2017 has been a year of makeup stand-outs: bold (black) lipstick, glassy skin, pin-straight hair–you ladies know, we’ve tried them all. Though we were all fans of all the 2017 makeup trends, it’s time to pave the way for a whole new set of looks for 2018! I, for one, think that the simple swaps, new textures and colors, and layering effects that have been seen on all the recent runways and red carpets are forecasting the hottest makeup trends that will dominate in 2018. Here are the hottest, newest makeup trends we are anticipating to drop when the ball drops:

  1. Golden Glow – This is one of those simple swaps. Ditch 2017’s champagne highlighter and go for the gold. We owe this look all too Bad Gal RiRi and her launch of Fenty Beauty’s pure-gold highlighter. Sure, it is not the most subtle choice of highlight, but when we saw RiRi rock her very own Killawatt Highlighter in Trophy Wife (a vibrant, metallic yellow-gold shade), we all had to show out just the same! 2017 has definitely been the year of Rihanna, but in 2018 we’ll see the effect that she’s had on the beauty world. Sidenote: We have been completely ransacked of the Killawatt Highlighter at, but will be back in stock soon. In the meantime, if you are itching to try gold highlighter, try the more subdued Wet n’ Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder, which is available at It is a good transition from champagne glow to the golden glow.
  2. Twiggy Lashes – The clumpy, Twiggy-inspired eyelashes are in no way a new trend, but we have definitely seen a resurgence of the clumpy lash trend on the 2018 fall/springs runways. There is a distinct 2018 update to this trend that we started to see surface in 2017: makeup artists are pairing the spidery lashes with fresh, natural-looking skin. To get the fat lash 60’s inspired look, apply coats and coats of the Maybelline Volum’ Express Colossal Volume Black Waterproof Mascara, available on The ultra-black formula is both thick and wet, so you have time to mold your lashes before they set and dry. I’m telling you, this look ups your makeup game invariably.
  3. Inner Circles – The inner circles of the eyes may be a forgotten area, but a touch of a carefully-placed pigment can instantly brighten your eyes. Rather than applying more natural hues, like champagne or white to highlight the inner corners of the eyes, opt for fun pops of color in pink, orange, or even baby blue shades. It is a simple, yet effective, trend that we are really looking forward to seeing in 2018. Try Atiqa Odho Color Cosmetics Loose Shimmer Eyeshadow, which is available for purchase on All of the colors are amazing and so richly pigmented. They are the perfect amount of fine, metallic shimmer. The loose powder is packed with micro-fine shimmer and can even be used all over the face, on cheekbones, and of course the inner corners of the eyes. My favorites are the Orange Opal, Kunzite, and Feroza shades.

I am really looking forward to the new year–and news trends mentioned above! I’m thinking the key word this upcoming season is experimenting. So, 2018 is the year of shaking up our beauty routines. I am ready to be inspired and creative in the new year when it comes to makeup–and with what we’ve seen on the runways, there are no rules. This is a final goodbye to the old, and in with the new! Happy New Year ladies!
