Goodbye, winter wonderland, and HELLO spring-cleaning. The time has finally come to put all our winter woes behind us and move in the direction of brighter days literally. Basically our motto here at Just4Girls is – new weather, new skincare routine. The dry air that had been plaguing our skin for too many months is now gone. The warm breeze and sticky humidity will be our new companion. Heavy creams, and oils are now a thing of the past shakeup your skincare staples and apply that spring touch. Below are some suggested tips from dermatologists and skincare eficinados.
Exfoliation is the key to success –
The dry winter air has sucked a lot of life out of your skin. When your skin is dry not only does it crack, but it also builds up a lot of dead skin. If the dead skin is not removed from your face it can clog your pores and create a slew of problems. To help rid your skin of buildup use an exfoliate, I recommend L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Red Algae Exfoliating Face Wash – Red (PKR 599) or Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash (PKR 450). Both of these face washes are mild on the skin and remove excessive dirt and grime.
Use masks –
Use a combination of hydration masks and exfoliation masks to replenish my skin. This combination will help keep your skin smooth. Use about 2-3 times weekly, I promise you will see the difference in just once week. My go to masks are:
Stow away heavy creams and oils –
With the winter weather behind us there is no need to continue using dense creams and oils. It’s time to lighten up the load literally. Use moisturizers with little or no oil such as; Pond’s Age Miracle Cell Regen Day Cream (PKR 980) or Oriflame Love Nature Gel Cream Aloe Vera (PKR 749). Lightweight formulas are crucial during this time of year because you don’t want to weigh your skin down in the heat. Too much oil will cause blemishes.
Sunscreen is your savior –
I hope you apply sunscreen regularly throughout the day if your skin is exposed to the sun. The benefits of sunscreen are immeasurable. Sun damage can cause: age spots, wrinkles, sunburn, and skin cancer. You have to be extra precautious in the spring and summer because the rays are out to get you. It is recommended to use SPF 30 and above and to reapply generously throughout the day. Some favorites recommended by dermatologists are: Janssen Cosmetics J-Sun Shield SPF 50 (PKR 2,500), L’Oreal UV Perfect Sunblock SPF 50 (PKR 1,799) and Pharmaceris Sun Protect SPF 30 Face Cream (PKR 1,349).
Although you are already slathering sunscreen across your pretty face be sure to pay close attention the area around your eyes. The best way to prevent crows feet is apply a lot of eye cream and also wear sun glasses when possible. Squinting regularly will cause fine lines. Use an eye cream with a lot of antioxidants and collagen. My essentials are: Andalou Naturals Coconut Water Eye Lift Cream (PKR 1,810), Eminence Wild Plum Eye Cream (PKR 9,000), and Whimsy Beauty BISOU Face Oil Under Eye Serum (PKR 1,450).
